R/V New Horizon
The R/V (Research Vessel) New Horizon is 170 feet long and has a crew of twelve. It has room for a scientific party of 19 people. It is operated by the University of California, San Diego.


Scripps Institution of Oceanography
Scripps Institution was founded in 1903 as an independent biological research laboratory.  It became part of the University of California in 1912.  It is a large center for marine science research, with a staff of approximately 1,300 people.  Scripps operates the R/V New Horizon.
