What you can use to get informed

There are two kinds of information you can use to help you decide how to vote:

• Nonpartisan: Just gives facts and does not take sides about how you should vote.

• Partisan: Gives opinions and tries to convince you how to vote.

Sample Ballot: This booklet is mailed to you by your county elections office. It lists everything that you can vote on in the current election, including information on local candidates and propositions. It also tells you where to find your polling place. Keep it!

Voter Information Guide: This booklet is mailed to you by the state elections office (called the Secretary of State). It has information about statewide candidates and propositions.

Partisan information you can use:

You may get mail directly from candidates and ballot proposition campaigns. You will also hear ads on radio and television trying to convince you how to vote. This kind of information can also help you decide how you want to vote.
