What happens at
the polling place?

Your polling place will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. Your vote will be counted after the polls close.

Check in:

When you arrive, check in with a poll worker.

  • You will be asked to say your name and address. The poll worker will look for your name on the list of voters for your polling place. You will sign your name on this list.

  • If you are a first time voter, you may have to show your ID.

  • The poll worker may hand you a ballot card or a special computer card to use for voting. What they give you depends on the type of voting system used at your polling place.
