Return to What's New | Return to the VALUE Home Page VALUE Members and
Supporters We are pleased to report that VALUE members and supporters in New York City appear to be all right after the World Trade Center disaster on September 11th. VALUE President Calvin Miles, and members Sam Santiago, Nancy Gonzalez, Paul Jurmo, and Debby DAmico are OK. So are organizations the following organizations that have supported VALUE in various ways: Time Warner, the Literacy Assistance Center, the Adult Literacy Media Alliance, Literacy Partners, and the Consortium for Worker Education. Adult education agencies are now meeting to discuss how the September 11th attack has affected adult learners in the City. Many learners have lost their jobs. Some Middle Eastern learners are afraid to leave their homes and have stopped attending classes. Subway service has been disrupted, so some learners cant get to classes or tutoring sessions. Many learners are feeling nervous and unsettled and are not focusing on their education right now. VALUE welcomes news from around the U.S. about how the September 11th attack is affecting adult learners and adult education programs. (Send news to our web site manager in New York City, Paul Jurmo, at pjurmo@home.com). We will continue to provide ways for adult learners to communicate during this difficult time.
