Workshops
Planned for
Summer Leadership Institute

VALUE is now lining up some
great workshops for our Adult Learner Leadership Institute. This national
event will be held in Columbus, Ohio on July 19-21, 2001.
The workshops will help adult
learners develop leadership skills they can use in their education programs
and communities. Presenters will be a mix of experienced adult learner
leaders and adult education practitioners from around the U.S.
Topics will include:
- Skills You Need to Be an
Adult Learner Leader
- How to Help with Student
Orientation and Retention and Program Evaluation
- Computer Skills for Learner
Leaders
- How the Adult Education
System Works
- How to Communicate Effectively
- Meet the VALUE Board
- How to Be an Advocate for
Adult Education and Adult Learners
- Starting an Adult Learner
Organization
- Educating those who Work
with Children
- Working with Practitioners
- Family Dynamics for Learner
Leaders
- Raising and Managing Funds
- Health Issues for Adult
Learners
- Information about the National
Institute for Literacy, Equipped for the Future, the Adult Literacy
Media Alliance, and the What Works Literacy Partnership
In addition to these workshops,
the Institute will include:
- social events,
- an exhibit area,
- a computer lounge (where
you can try out computer equipment), and
- lots of opportunities to
meet learners from all over the country.
