Greetings from VALUE Members
(Posted December, 2000)

VALUE’s adult learner members communicate with each other by e-mail on our own electronic list. They recently prepared holiday greetings (a "wish list for the holidays and new year") to send to other VALUE members and to users of our web site. Here are some greetings from VALUE members around the U.S.:

In this holiday season, I wish everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous holiday. Also, during your time of giving, please think of VALUE! Happy Holidays!

Annette Sessions (Connecticut)

As the Holidays get near, and you are running around to get things done for your family, think of those less blessed, and be safe. Happy Holidays.

Emma Torrez (California)

Hi to all! The year is coming to an end. My wish for all is I hope and pray that you find your calling (Your Gift) on what you came to this world to do.

HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!

Resonja Willoughby (California)

I bet every member of VALUE was TOLD that they just were "not trying hard enough" to learn to read [when we were children]. It’s hard work for some of us to learn to read, it is also hard work to teach some of us to read... the key to teaching children and adults like me to read is proper instruction. WE CAN LEARN HOW TO READ..... Most teachers do not have the skills or the knowledge to teach little boys or girls like me to read. They are not the "bad" guys, they just have not been trained properly ---- yet. DON'T GIVE UP ON YOUR CHILD, WITH YOUR SUPPORT, UNDERSTANDING AND THE PROPER INSTRUCTION, SHE CAN IMPROVE HER READING, WRITING AND SPELLING SKILLS. Keep searching....... Sincerely

John Corcoran (California)

I wish that VALUE accomplishes its goals and dreams.

I wish that people all over the world get more money for literacy programs.

I wish that people continue to care about and love each other.

I wish for happiness for all.

For all the people who worked so hard for VALUE, I wish you very, very Happy Holidays.

Sam Santiago (New York)

In this holiday season, I wish for PEACE in the Middle East -- the Holy Land, the Nation of Israel, the Jews & Arabs -- a day of PEACE.

I was in Israel in 1986, a long time ago, and also Italy. I am Italian not Jewish, but loved the country and people of Israel.

Every year I reflect on Bethlehem. "For unto us a child is born, for unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace" (Isaiah 9:6).

PEACE FOR ALL, MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Nancy Shields (Delaware)

In this holiday season I wish that man (woman) would live together in peace. To be able to see God in each one of us, no matter what race or religion we are. I also wish that all men (women) would respect human life from the womb to one's end days. I also wish there would be an end to violence, be it in the home or in the streets. I wish everyone would have a respect for themselves and for others.
