VALUE Hunts for Dollars
(Posted September, 2000)

VALUE’s Fundraising Committee is now seeking funds from corporations, foundations, individuals, state offices of adult education, and other sources.

We now have over $20,000 in our budget and have pledges of at least another $35,000 for next year. We also can rely on the volunteer help of our board members and a small number of other committed individuals. We also have had office facilities donated to us for the foreseeable future.

However, for VALUE to grow in the coming year, we will need more financial support. Although our members are showing their support by sending in membership fees and we are now getting some income from the leadership training services we are providing around the country, this is not enough to keep a national organization afloat. We are requesting funds for:

  • Operating expenses to keep our office running (e.g., telephone, printing, postage, and fees for our executive director and administrative assistant);
  • VALUE’s 2001 national Adult Learner Leadership Institute.
  • An annual planning retreat for our volunteer board.
  • Leadership training services (workshops, consultations, and publications) to help states build the leadership abilities of their adult learners.

We have prepared a proposal which shows what VALUE has already accomplished and how we will use funds in the next two years.

The Fundraising Committee welcomes your help: funds, "tips" on where to look for support, and volunteer help.

Please contact Fundraising Committee chair Calvin Miles (212/802-1129) or Executive Director Marty Finsterbush (610/876-4811).
