Return to What's New | Return to the VALUE Home Page NIFL Continues Its Fellowshipsfor Adult Learner Leaders (Posted April, 2000) The National Institute for Literacy is seeking applications from adult learners for its next round of Literacy Leader Fellowships. Adult learners are invited to apply for a fellowship to allow them to do special year-long projects related to several topics. (Adult literacy professionals are also invited to apply.) One of the possible topic areas is "Developing Leadership in Adult Learners." Currently NIFL has one adult learner serving as a Fellow. Marty Finsterbusch (an adult learner leader from Pennsylvania and Vice Chair of VALUE) is doing a survey to determine how states are supporting the development of adult learner leadership. In previous years, adult learners have also held NIFL Fellowships. Archie Willard (a learner from Iowa who is the Chair of VALUE) and Senitila McKinley (a learner leader from Oregon) did a project in 1996-97 to identify different ways of promoting active student involvement in their programs. The deadline for this years Fellowships is May 8, 2000. For more information, contact Jennifer Cromley at 202/233-2053 or "jcromley@nifl.gov". An application form is also available at the NIFL web site.
