VALUE Board Going to the Big Apple
(Posted April, 2000)

VALUE board members will meet in New York City on May 21st through May 23rd.

This "retreat" will allow the board to:

  • Plan the activities of the eight committees for the next year.

  • Prepare to conduct leadership training workshops for adult learners around the U.S.

The retreat is being funded by grants from Time Warner Inc. and adult educator Andrea Wilder. The Reading Program at the Santa Clara (Calfiornia) City Library is funding the travel and hotel of Emma Torrez, a board member who works at the program.

Meeting facilities will be provided by Literacy Partners and the Literacy Assistance Center.

VALUE’s board thanks these supporters for allowing us to hold this retreat.

This will be the first time that the new board will meet face-to-face since it was elected by VALUE members in January. The board also communicates through conference calls and e-mail.
