The State Collaborative Literacy Council and the State Literacy Resource Center are pleased to announce their Second Annual Literacy Awards for California

• ABE or Basic Literacy Learner
• ESL Learner
• Family Literacy Learner (ABE or ESL)

Plaques for First, Second and Third Place in each of above three categories will be given. Learners must be nominated by their local literacy provider. Points will be earned based on the following:

Points	Criteria
25	attendance in program and consistency of effort over time
20	set and reached personal goals
15	overcame difficult or unusual barriers
10	helped or supported other literacy students in their efforts
10	served as a literacy advocate within the community
20	learner's own words as to why they sought literacy services
100

Recognition Certificates will be sent to all learners nominated Nominations evaluated by panel of SCLC, SLRC USERS Group and SLRC staff.

All nominations due in SLRC office by 5:00 pm March 3, 1997
