Homebuying Readiness
This site documents a three-year project, supported by the FannieMae Foundation, to support the teaching of first-time homebuying readiness to immigrants (and other adult education students). It includes lesson plans, teacher reflections, student writings, and related resources. Some of the topics addressed include: information about loans and subsidy programs for low income buyers, the issues and responsibilities embedded within tenant/landlord relations, the pros and cons of home ownership, how to document a non-traditional credit history, and the various resources and supports available from government housing programs.
