Filing status

There are five kinds of tax “filing status.”  Click on your status to find out your 2004 tax rate.

• Single
  (you were not married, or you were legally separated)
• Married Filing Jointly
• Married Filing Separately
• Head of Household
  (to qualify, you must have paid more than half of the cost of  of the household and the dependents (children) for the year)
• Qualifying Widow(er) With Dependent Child

If more than one filing status applies to you, choose the one that will give you the lowest tax.
