Understanding Your Credit Card Statement

Your monthly statement will list every charge you made that month and show your payments. It shows what your balance was from last month and how much interest you are being charged (the “finance charge”). Keep your receipts from all of your credit card purchases so you can check:

The transactions – are they correct?

Your payments – are they correct?

If you see a mistake or charges you didn’t make, contact the credit card right away. Keep a record of who you spoke with and on what date. It is best to contact the card company in writing. The address to use is on the back of your statement.
