How much will it cost?

Most banks do not charge you to open a savings account. Instead they pay you interest to keep your money.

For checking accounts, each bank has its own way of charging you for their services. Some checking accounts have a monthly fee and others are free. All accounts will have additional charges (for example, to order checks and if you write a check you do not have funds to cover).

You can use these questions to make sure you understand what all of the fees are going to be. In most cases, the fees are going to be a few dollars each month.
