Why Use a Bank?

To start over with banking

You may have a bad credit history. A bank may have closed your account because of bad checks. If a bank does not want to trust you with an account, try these steps:

  1. Go to the bank and tell how you will do things differently this time.

  2. Ask to open a savings account instead of checking. This will let you be able to cash a paycheck or other checks you get.

  3. After a few months, ask to have a debit card for your savings account. If you do not have problems with this, the bank may see that you are ready to handle a checking account again.
Many people do not realize how writing “bad” checks can hurt your credit rating. And it is against the law. But you can repair your credit over time.
