Marian Tyson teaches Adult Basic Education, GED, English Language Learning and college preparatory courses. She attended the year-long Ocean Science and Math Collaborative Project trainings where she learned how to integrate ocean science studies into adult education classes. Marian was also a “Teacher at Sea” on a research cruise with Bob Collier and Marta Torres of Oregon State University.

The scientists on this cruise in 2004 conducted barite studies in the San Clemente Basin of the Pacific Ocean, off the west coast of Mexico. When she’s not teaching, Marian enjoys traveling (especially to Latin America), learning languages, and practicing yoga.
