This set of materials is an extremely useful tool for teachers and tutors. It's a "must" resource, a
handy, non-threatening guide with many practical teaching suggestions.
I was very impressed with this work. It summarized a philosophy that we have been pursuing in our
literacy program more concisely, yet with useful practical examples, than anything else I've seen in
a similar vein.
All the questions that I have had about the integrative learning approach are answered in this book. The whole approach is so refreshing, enlightening, fun, and supportive.
These materials address a need in the field of adult literacy - especially for those not wanting to use traditional textbook type material. These same tutors, however, need a guide, a format with concrete ideas to work form. The materials provide this structure.
These materials help me prepare and consider how my student learns so that my lessons are more effective.
Since I started using the cards, we have more fun and my lessons are more interesting. My student enjoys the different activities.
The materials are easy to follow and are full of very practical, concrete ideas. They are a great resource of "idea sparkers".
The ideas reinforce and refresh the memory of what I learned in training. I have wanted something like this since taking training four years ago.
When I began using these materials with my students, I discovered things about them that I never knew, giving me new avenues in lessons. I discovered Harry plays the guitar and composes music, but not words for the tunes. Here is an opportunity to write. I see these materials as a catalyst, an inspiration to try new ideas for learning.
The interaction cards help the tutor and learner work together and help the learner to recognize his own unique abilities.
Using these materials has helped my learner take a more active role in our lessons.
