Afghan Reaction in the United States

I. Ahmad Taeb works at Pamir Food Mart.

A. Taeb is an Afghan American who lives in the Bay Area.
B. He bakes Afghan bread at the store.
C. His brother-in-law and his family live in Afghanistan.
D. Taeb worries about the U.S. bombing in his former homeland.

II. Homayoun Khamosh fought the Russian army when he was in Afghanistan.

A. He spent nine years as a freedom fighter there before coming to America.
B. Many innocent people were killed during the Russian bombing.
C. Afghan people were afraid and screamed during the bombing.
D. Khamosh can’t watch the U.S. bombing of Afghanistan on television.
E. It’s too painful for him.

III. Sixty thousand Afghan-Americans live in the Bay Area.

A. Many live in Fremont, California in an area called "little Kabul."
B. These Afghan-Americans are worried about their homeland.
C. Most Afghan-Americans want to see bin Laden, the Taliban and terrorism destroyed.
D. Some want to go back and rebuild their country.

IV. Wahid Andesha has raised his family in the United States.

A. He doesn’t know what he will do if the Taliban lose the war.
B. Andesha will have to think more before deciding what to do.
C. Many Afghan-Americans hope the former king will go back.
D. The former king will need educated young people to return to Afghanistan.
E. For now, Afghan-Americans must wait until the Taliban are defeated.
